ACCREDITATION

British Columbia Guide Dog Services is an accredited member of the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF). Accreditation takes place every five years and is a comprehensive audit of all guide dog technical aspects within the organization which include:

Humane care, training and treatment of dogs;
Applicant/client selection;
Client & guide dog team instruction and follow up;
Breeding, puppy raising & veterinary services;
Guide dog assessment and training;
Technical staff, education and development;
Administration;
Buildings and transport;
Kennel housing; and
Guide dog mobility instructor course curriculum.

Our last accreditation took place June 13 - 16, 2007 and is valid until June 2012.
